For 90 years, Eijerkamp has been presenting the newest trends in living, sleeping, design, lighting, window and floor decoration across an area of 55,000 m2. Providing customers with 100% inspiration through atmospherically decorated interiors, composed of a broad collection of over 150 different living brands; personal and involved. That is what Eijerkamp offers its customers in its stores in Zutphen and Veenendaal.

Eijerkamp shares its passion for interior, design and trends with vtwonen. It is not for nothing that Eijerkamp has been a partner of the popular living programme since 2015. Every Sunday evening, the Netherlands can get inspired by the programme 'vtwonen - In Love with Your House Again' and with that inspiration shop to their heart's content in one of the physical stores or on Eijerkamp.nl.

Eijerkamp is a strong brand that manages to create a unique and atmospheric experience in its impressively complete living stores. The personal involvement of the professionals in the stores adds strength to the whole. While a lot of attention is given to these factors in the brick-and-mortar store, the ultimate Eijerkamp atmosphere, experience, and inspiration are still missing online. So, it’s time to work on the online store! A great challenge for XSARUS.

The collaboration during this project was very intensive, which certainly benefited the result and the delivery speed. It was very nice to work together from both a marketing and visual point of view and technically, a unique experience with a wonderful result!

Headless e-commerce platform for experience and inspiration

Unlike traditional webshops with a strong transactional focus, Eijerkamp’s new platform puts the spotlight on the frontend. Inspiration, atmosphere, and brand experience lead the way. A smooth and intuitive content management environment plays a crucial role. Page speed and performance carry serious weight. Traffic peaks hit on Sunday evenings during and after the vtwonen TV broadcast. The platform handles these spikes without sacrificing speed or user experience.

A fully headless architecture supports this setup. Magento Open Source processes all transactional flows. The user-friendly Prismic CMS manages content. The frontend runs on Vue.js, while a GraphQL middleware layer connects Magento Open Source and Prismic. The checkout uses a custom-built XSARUS solution, delivering a significantly higher completion rate than the standard Magento Open Source checkout.

With the new online platform, we have become much more flexible in quickly implementing changes, especially in the content section of the webshop. We now have more freedom to build completely new pages ourselves, and modifying content is also easy and quick for us to accomplish.
