Searching for a new commerce platform

WLS Products approached XSARUS during the search for a new ecommerce platform. This search was driven by several key requirements:

Commerce Platform Magento Open Source

The ecommerce solution of Magento Open Source quickly became part of the conversation. Its extensive B2C functionality, the ability to support B2B, options for multilingual setups and the management of multiple storefronts from one backend made it a strong fit. Integrating external partners and systems is also straightforward. The full set of requirements was covered. The choice was clear: Magento Open Source.

Concept and Design

Before implementation, the UX and UI designers at XSARUS organized a design kick off session. During this session, the requirements for user experience and interface were discussed in detail.

In the concept and design phase, ideas were translated into mobile first and desktop page concepts. These included both wireframes and visual designs. As WLS Products did not have a strict brand guide, subtle improvements were made to the existing look and feel. This ensured recognizability while introducing a fresher appearance. The use of clear colors, soft shadows and rounded elements created a more approachable and modern design.

Magento Open Source is not a webshop for beginners. There are many options and buttons that you will not often use or will wonder what they do. But after a few months of working in Magento, it feels like you've never done anything else.

Implementation of Magento Open Source

With the implementation of the new Magento Open Source platform, all domains are now managed from a single backend using multistore functionality. This makes it possible to manage seven domains, multiple languages and different frontends within one Magento environment.

Benefits for consumers

Customers of WLS Products also benefit from the new platform. Previously, it was not possible to select specific flavors within sample packs. With the bundle functionality in Magento Open Source, customers can now choose from all available flavors. This adds flexibility without increasing operational effort.

The refreshed design and consistent experience across all storefronts also improve usability and brand perception.
